Acoustic Engineer - Medical Device (Cambridge, MA)
Contributing to the technical aspects of projects that develop new intracardiac echo products including algorithms and transducers, the Acoustic Engineer will conduct advanced development activities to create innovative technology to improve image guided therapy delivery in the structural heart disease space.
Your role:
- Apply acoustic wave propagation and signal processing theory to the design and specification of new cardiac imaging algorithms and imaging sub-systems.
- Participate in design, development and implementation of new ultrasound imaging capabilities: including development plans, algorithm design and specification, integration strategy, 3D intracardiac echo transducer technology, and SW implementation.
- Tune intracardiac echo ultrasound systems for optimum image quality and imaging features.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Product Management organizations to define new cardiac imaging feature requirements to meet specific clinical applications and market needs.
You're the right fit if:
- You have 2+ years of experience with ultrasound signal and image processing, filter design; linear and nonlinear wave propagation is preferred.
- Experience with ultrasound imaging, ultrasound beamforming, acoustic wave propagation theory and ultrasound transducer design; experience with intracardiac echo imaging is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of clinical applications of cardiac ultrasound.
- Proficiency in Python, Matlab and C++ programming languages; experience with acoustic simulation software.
- You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position .
How we work together:
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities (5 days a week). Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers' or suppliers' locations.
This is an onsite role.

Philips Transparency Details:
The pay range for this position in MA is $82,000 - $131,000.
The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.

- Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position. For this position, you must reside in or within commuting distance to Cambridge, MA
