- Assistant City Engineer
Description
We are looking for an Assistant City Engineer who manages, plans, and directs engineering and maintenance activities and personnel pertaining to the efficient and uninterrupted operation of the City’s Public Services systems. Performs complex professional civil engineering activities related to the design, inspection, construction, and maintenance of the public services systems, existing City facilities, Capital Improvement Projects (CIP), and private projects. Work involves ensuring conformance to approved plans and specifications, City codes, and local, state, and federal regulations.
Directs, provides guidance to, and reviews the work of staff to accomplish operational plans and results.
Plans and oversees business area workflow and time utilization of staff; assigns and communicates daily activities and deadlines to staff.
Assesses, plans, and implements best practice standards and assures compliance with all regulatory and funding agencies; compiles and submits data, analyses, and a variety of routine and requested reports.
Reviews all development projects for compliance with all applicable City Codes in the engineering purview and administers and develops processes for various aspects of the department’s development reviews.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering; supplemented by five (5) years of experience in municipal engineering, including two (2) years in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
Required Certifications and Licenses
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License and the ability to drive a city owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) training will be required (and sponsored) according to job duties and responsibilities.
Must possess or obtain State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) within one (1) year of employment.
