Job Summary.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Environmental Engineering. The department seeks to lead and inspire positive change for public and environmental good through world-class research and education. Research and education focused on sustainable futures is one aspect of reaching this goal. We are looking for an individual who is forward-thinking and dedicated to exploring sustainable solutions for pressing problems in the domains of environmental chemistry and/or environmental process engineering.
We expect the successful candidate to develop innovative research and teaching programs that address grand challenges in environmental engineering, such as sustainable technologies for water and air quality management, emerging chemical and biological threats to public health and to the environment, innovative and sustainable approaches to resource recovery that promote circular economies, and climate change adaptation in natural and engineered environments.
Key Job Responsibilities.
Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and contributing to curriculum updates and innovations; mentoring graduate students and supervising their research; developing and directing a successful, extramurally funded research program; participating in departmental and university shared governance; and contributing to professional and public service. Faculty at the associate or full professor rank will also have the responsibility of leading large research proposals and center-type activities.

Requirements
Education.
PhD in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related field by the start date.
Qualifications.
Candidates should be well-versed in developing and implementing sustainable solutions for control of physical, biological and/or chemical public and environmental health hazards in one or more of the following systems: wastewater, water supply, stormwater, recreational water, residential indoor air, industrial indoor air, outdoor air, and energy recovery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and advancing sustainable engineering practices for the betterment of society and the environment.
