Description
ECS is seeking a CMT Department Manager to lead our El Paso CMT Department and drive regional growth in West Texas. This role is responsible for overseeing field and laboratory testing, mentoring a team of engineers and project managers, and growing our client base through active business development. It is a leadership role suited for someone who thrives on balancing operational oversight with market engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the construction materials testing (CMT) department, including field services and lab operations.
 - Supervise and mentor project managers, field technicians, and junior engineers.
 - Develop and maintain client relationships through regular interaction, jobsite visits, and proposal preparation.
 - Oversee department budgeting, resource planning, utilization, and P&L performance.
 - Conduct technical reviews of reports, proposals, and project documentation.
 - Ensure quality assurance and compliance with testing standards and company protocols.
 - Represent ECS at local industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
 - Support cross-departmental collaboration and assist in training programs. 
 
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical services, or a related discipline.
 - Demonstrated success in team leadership and department-level management.
 - Experience in client development, proposal writing, and project scoping.
 - Strong knowledge of applicable testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, etc.).
 - Familiarity with regional market trends and clients in West Texas.
 - Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas (preferred but not required).
 - Proven success in business development and expanding service offerings.
 - Prior experience managing departmental P&L and driving revenue growth.
