Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to support the Program Manager, Advanced Amphibious Assault (PM AAA) within the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) and Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) Sustainment Team. This position requires technical proficiency in mechanical systems and the ability to operate within the structured frameworks of defense acquisition, sustainment, and engineering change processes.

Experience:
The ideal candidate will have 46 years of professional experience in mechanical or systems engineering, preferably supporting Department of Defense acquisition or sustainment programs. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in:
• Engineering design reviews and technical analysis.
• Reviewing and commenting on technical documentation (requirements, CAD files, test plans/reports, engineering change documents).
• Supporting integration and testing of mechanical systems.
• Identifying and mitigating technical risks.
• Familiarity with sustainment processes, configuration management, structured technical reviews, and life cycle support is essential.
Responsibilities:
• Review, analyze, and develop technical documentation to support engineering change proposals and sustainment objectives.
• Conduct detailed technical analyses and participate in design and Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) reviews.
• Witness hardware integration onto AAV/ACV platforms and observe test execution.
• Review test plans and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Develop informational briefs and present results of AAV/ACV modification tasks to government stakeholders in support of program schedules.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline (Master's preferred).
• Experience navigating the full life cycle of defense acquisition systems — from requirements definition through validation and sustainment.
• Strong analytical thinking and technical communication skills to articulate complex engineering concepts across technical and managerial domains.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Active Secret clearance required to participate in classified program activities and maintain compliance with federal security protocols.
Specific/Preferred Requirements:
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
• Certifications in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
• INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent systems engineering certification.
• Familiarity with DoD 8570 baseline certifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP) for IT-related systems.
• Experience with lifecycle sustainment planning and risk management frameworks.
• Experience working with tactical and combat vehicles in military or defense environments.
• Strong presentation skills for developing and delivering technical briefs to government stakeholders.
