Network Security Engineer - Cloud Focus

As a Network Security Engineer with a focus on cloud technologies, you will lead advanced networking and security engineering initiatives within the Defense Health Agency through the Naval Information Warfare Center's Engineering and Design Section. This role is pivotal in guiding the integration of cloud-based solutions into DHA's expansive network, which encompasses over 500,000 devices. The ideal candidate is a seasoned IT professional passionate about leveraging cloud technologies to enhance networking and information security.

Key Responsibilities:

Spearhead the technical aspects of network security projects with an emphasis on cloud solutions, providing direction and support to engineering teams.

Design, develop, and implement sophisticated network security architectures that incorporate cloud technologies to solve complex problems within a large-scale network environment.

Assess and recommend cloud-based technologies such as SD-WAN, Zero Trust frameworks, and Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB) for potential deployment within the DHA enterprise.

Lead the evaluation and integration of traditional and cloud-centric networking products, ensuring they meet DHA's strategic and security requirements.

Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including white papers and information papers that outline cloud integration strategies, testing protocols, design specifications, and system recommendations.

Oversee the design and deployment of cloud-integrated firewall solutions across 240+ clinical locations, achieving significant cost savings and robust security enhancements.

Manage and mentor a team of nine personnel, with a focus on building cloud security expertise and aligning project objectives with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

Extensive experience in network security and engineering, with a significant focus on cloud security solutions, preferably within a defense or large enterprise environment.

Demonstrated proficiency in the design, testing, configuration, and implementation of network and cloud security devices and systems.

Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of supervising and mentoring technical teams.

Exceptional problem-solving skills and the capacity to drive innovation under pressure.

Expertise in creating and managing comprehensive technical documentation related to cloud technologies.

In-depth knowledge of current industry trends, cloud security practices, and technologies.

Desirable Skills:

Direct experience with DHA systems and cloud implementations highly preferred.

Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively articulating complex technical information to both government leadership and technical teams.

A strong commitment to staying at the forefront of information security and cloud technology developments.
