LEHIGH UNIVERSITY. The P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Sciences invites qualified individuals who are exceptionally innovative educators to apply for a faculty position in interdisciplinary experiential engineering education with the new First Year Rossin Engineering (FYRE) program. The individual will be hired either at the 1. non-tenure-track Teaching Assistant, Associate or Full Professor ranks, 2. tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor ranks or 3. tenured Associate or Full Professor ranks. The rank and track of the individual hired will be determined by the College in consultation with the individual, commensurate with experience in teaching and research. The opening has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. The non-tenure-track ranks (Teaching Assistant, Associate and Full Professor) are renewable, fixed-term, full-time positions with initial terms of appointment of 3 years.
Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in any engineering field or Engineering Education or another closely related field by the date of employment. Candidates must have a track record of research and/or teaching in Engineering Education or related areas and an interest in focusing on Engineering Education broadly defined, encompassing teaching excellence, curriculum innovation, student engagement, and the advancement of engineering learning environments.
The individual hired will be expected to develop and teach hands-on interdisciplinary engineering modules to undergraduate students. Additionally, this person will spearhead the integration of core competency subjects like calculus, physics, chemistry, and writing into the new first-year interdisciplinary modules. The successful candidate will also be expected to create opportunities to broaden participation in engineering and create an environment where all students can thrive. The individual will contribute to applications for external funding and the dissemination of results in peer-reviewed journal articles, as well as be expected to engage in professional service at the department, college, and university levels.
The successful candidate will hold a primary faculty appointment in the P. C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science, with a home department determined based on the candidate's academic background.
