Description
The Project Engineer supports the design, delivery, and commissioning of integrated material handling and fulfillment automation systems. Working closely with Project Managers, senior engineers, and cross-functional teams, this role helps ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and to StreamTech’s quality and safety standards.
This position blends hands-on technical work with collaboration and customer interaction. The Project Engineer contributes to control system design, documentation, testing, and startup activities while continuously building technical expertise and leadership skills. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for industrial automation and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Skills
- Take ownership of assigned tasks within projects, collaborating with the Project Manager and senior engineers for guidance and support.
- Provide electrical and pneumatic requirements to the Panel Designer to support the design of control panels.
- Support the development, review, and issuance of Functional Specifications (FSD).
- Coordinate with the Sales team during project handoffs, ensuring any discrepancies or misquoted items are identified and communicated for resolution.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to understand project scope, timeline, and budget, ensuring all aspects of the project stay on track.
- Help identify opportunities for change orders and work with the Project Manager to present them to clients when appropriate.
- Design control systems with a focus on function, performance, and safety, under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers.
- Assist in the coordination of purchasing and management of the Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Perform on-site and in-house system commissioning, ensuring all aspects of the project are well managed.
- Work with the Project Manager and team to manage the progress of tasks, ensuring timely completion.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for pre-engineered systems.
- Assist with customer training and system startup at customer locations, ensuring systems meet all performance requirements.
- Integrate StreamTech PLC controls with StreamTech software solutions, ensuring seamless communication and functionality across systems.
- Contribute to project closure by supporting the resolution of punch lists.
- Participate in cross-training with the technician team and contribute to knowledge sharing.
- Assist in the creation and publication of maintenance and operating documentation.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot systems as needed.
- Understand the subtleties of business relationships and work to build positive partnerships with resellers, end-users, and suppliers.
- Stay current on trends in the material handling and automation industry through trade shows, industry publications, and online resources.
- Create bid packages for obtaining electrical and mechanical quotes from subcontractors to support project scope and cost management.

Qualifications & Attributes
- Positive outlook and a passion for industrial automation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with 2-5 years of experience.
- Familiarity with PLC and HMI systems, particularly in material handling systems, is a plus.
- Strong interest in project management and willingness to learn customer expectations, system design, and the commissioning process.
- Strong electrical and mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
- Proficiency with 2D or 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to project a positive customer service image.
- Experience with machine vision systems is a plus.
- Highly computer literate with proficiency in Google Suite products.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and effective time management skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time, with up to 40% travel during large projects.
