Your New Role
This position represents a senior leadership opportunity within the Exposure Management team, an integral part of the Liquidity & Implementation (L&I) function at AustralianSuper. The role is responsible for the management of the Fund's Option level exposures and delegated sector-based strategies, including the efficient implementation of investment decisions, monitoring of Option and sector level exposures and management of allocations between physical and synthetic portfolios.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and enhancing the daily monitoring of market exposures and assessment of risks across Asset exposure, Fixed Income Completion, Asset Class Mix overlay portfolios and various Equity sector cash portfolios;
- Ensuring the efficient implementation of Target Asset Allocation changes and active FIC decisions excluding currency;
- Analysing performance of overlay portfolios;
- Overseeing rebalancing activities across derivative and physical portfolios, ensuring optimal and equitable capital allocation decisions;
- Primary coverage of fixed income and multi-asset class transition management;
- Overseeing external relationships on passive portfolios, ensuring actions align with mandate objectives and the Fund's investment philosophy;
- Evaluating, recommending and implementing new instruments that enhance operational efficiency and minimise tracking error, supporting the Fund's performance goals;
- Supporting the integration of tools designed by the L&I Quantitative Solutions Team into daily operations, embedding data-driven decision making and continuous improvement into core workflows;
- Driving the adoption and use of new Exposure Management tools and ensuring clear articulation of business requirements from the team;
- Representing Liquidity & Implementation at senior Investment forums on a variety of investment implementation matters;
- Actively managing the performance of direct reports to promote accountability and contribute to a culture of high performance;
- Supporting coordination between the L&I team and stakeholders within Investments and the broader Fund;
- Proactively responding to stakeholder inquiries and clearly communicating exposure management issues to diverse audiences, which involves performing analyses and formulating briefing notes;
- Ensuring risk is managed in accordance with the Fund's Risk Management Framework by implementing strong risk controls on processes, policies and systems to ensure breaches are limited.
This is a permanent role based in Melbourne or Sydney.
What You'll Need
- Significant experience in asset management, exposure or overlay management within an institutional investor, pension fund or investment banking environment;
- Expert understanding of investment and risk management principles, investment instruments and financial markets, particularly futures, currency and other derivative instruments;
- Coding abilities/experience in Excel, Python, SQL etc;
- Strong communication and leadership experience;
- Experience managing a team and wide range of stakeholders;
- Willingness to take ownership of tasks and follow them through to completion;
- Ability to work collaboratively with global team members and lead team initiatives;
- Superior tertiary qualifications in any STEM subject, Finance or Economics;
- Additional industry accreditation - eg CFA designation - ideal;
- Previous experience with BRS Aladdin desirable;
- Experience in project management or leading change an advantage.
