Position Summary
Bodw is seeking a highly motivated Site Development Civil Engineer (CE IIIIV) to play a key role in delivering impactful infrastructure projects across the country. With a focus on underserved communities, tribal nations, and federal agencies, this role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to projects that matterwhile growing as a technical leader and project manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following inexhaustive list of duties represents a sample of work routinely performed by this role:
Project Leadership
Serve as a Project Manager or Technical Lead on site development projects across tribal, federal, and municipal markets.Collaborate with the Site Development Practice Lead to develop scope, schedule, fee, and staffing plans. Maintain strong communication with clients, design teams, and internal partners throughout the project lifecycle.Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff to support their growth and project contributions.Support practice-wide growth by contributing to strategic planning and practice group development.Technical Expertise
Lead or support the preparation of site plans, grading, stormwater management, utilities (sewer and water), access design, and erosion control plans. Perform or oversee engineering calculations, hydrologic modeling, stormwater reports, code compliance, and construction documentation. Provide technical QA and ensure design solutions meet regulatory, functional, and constructability standards. Provide oversight and feedback on QC processes during production and prior to milestone deliveries. Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools to produce high-quality construction documents. Leverage understanding of federal, tribal, and local permitting processes to facilitate approvals and execution.Client + Community Engagement
Represent Bodw in client meetings, field visits, and project team coordination efforts. Build long-term client relationships through effective communication, problem solving, and delivery excellence. Act as a trusted advisor for tribal and federal clients who seek durable, community-centered site development solutions.Operational + Business Development Support
Assist with fee proposals, project scoping, and marketing strategies in collaboration with the Site Development Practice Lead. Contribute to internal initiatives to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and support firm-wide integration.Collaborate across practice groups to support multi-disciplinary project delivery.Qualifications and Experience
Education + Degree
Required: Bachelor's degree in an ABET accredited Civil Engineering program.Experience, Certification, or Licensure
Minimum 610 years of relevant experience in site/civil engineering, with at least 2 years in a project management or supervisory role. Professional Engineer (PE) license required.Proven experience managing multi-phase site development projects from planning through construction. Must possess the knowledge and expertise to teach, train, or mentor staff members on matters pertaining to civil engineering plans and specifications. Experience with site development projects. Experience working on tribal or federal lands (IHS, BIA, BIE, HUD, VA, NPS, etc.) strongly preferred. Must have Real ID or Passport in order to undergo commercial airfare travel. Must have valid driver's license.Technical + Professional Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects, and Teams.Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for full plan set production. Bluebeam Revu preferred.Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills. Ability to simultaneously work in a team setting and set and keep individual task goals. Familiarity with indigenous community infrastructure needs and sensitivity to sovereign governance preferred. Background in underserved or rural community projects preferred.Ability to lead multi-office and multi-discipline teams on large-scale programs.Work Environment
This is a hybrid position with periodic travel (10-20%) to project sites and client locations.
This position primarily operates in a professional office setting with standard office equipment and a quiet, climate-controlled environment. While in the office, there is no regular exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, or heavy machinery.
This role also requires periodic travel to project sites, including locations undergoing renovation or active construction. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to non-temperature-controlled environments, construction noise, dust, and other typical conditions found on job sites. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required during these visits, depending on site conditions. While on site visits, an individual in this role will be required to work atypical hours at the request of the client or role demands.
Physical Demands
Sitting/Standing: This is not a sedentary role. This role requires the ability to be on your feet moving around a construction site for most of the day interacting with contractors, contractor representatives, and inspecting the construction work that is being performed.
Walking: This role requires the ability to move about outside in various geographic and building terrains to access a construction site to provide quality assurance services.
Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and ladder climbing to inspect all aspects of building construction to foundations, crawlspaces, and roofs.
Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.
Seeing: This role requires the ability to see, view, and distinguish all aspects of construction to ensure quality control.
Carrying/Lifting: This role requires lifting up to 30 lbs to transport technological office equipment, safety equipment, and other needed construction items to and from various workspaces.
