Python Engineer - Trading Infrastructure - Sydney

A leading global quantitative trading firm is hiring a Python-focused engineer into its Central Operations team.

This is not a traditional SRE or support role.

The team builds and owns the tooling, automation and reliability systems that power a live global trading environment. You'll be writing production-grade Python that improves deployment, orchestration, monitoring, scalability and operational risk management.

What You'll Do

• Build and scale Python-based automation & reliability tooling
• Improve deployment and configuration management systems
• Drive performance and scalability improvements across trading systems
• Work directly with traders and risk teams
• Engineer solutions to reduce operational risk
• Mentor and collaborate with other production engineers

What You'll Bring

• Strong Python engineering experience (production systems)
• 5+ years in backend / infrastructure / platform engineering
• Solid Linux knowledge
• Good networking fundamentals (routing, multicast, VLAN, performance tuning)
• Experience in high-availability environments
• Calm, structured approach to real-time systems

This is engineering-first, inside a world-class trading environment.

You don't need prior trading industry experience - the client is open to engineers who've built and operated complex, large-scale platforms in big tech or similarly high-performance environments.
