Cal Poly is committed to the teacher-scholar model. As teachers, faculty are expected to exhibit strong pedagogic skills and to remain proficient and current in their disciplines. The successful candidates will be expected to teach foundational courses in their respective disciplines in classroom and laboratory settings, promote a hands-on learning environment, engage in research and/or scholarly activity, and foster student innovation and creativity. As scholars, faculty should be engaged in scholarly work that is of very high quality as evidenced by external peer review. As colleagues, faculty are encouraged to perform service activities at all levels of the University. Classroom responsibilities include teaching existing coursework and developing new technical courses within the candidate's area of expertise. The selected candidates will integrate teaching and applied research functions in a multidisciplinary environment at the undergraduate and the graduate level. The selected candidates will also lead and mentor students in applied research in areas pertinent to their discipline.
