Company Overview

Founded in 1985, Protection Development, Incorporated (PDI) provides building and fire code consulting, preparation of life safety plans, design and evaluation of fire protection systems, commissioning of life safety and fire protection systems, conducting fire flow tests, performing hydraulic modeling for underground fire lines, and assisting with construction permitting in various jurisdictions.

PDI was founded on the principles of dependability, integrity, and customer service. We achieved growth while weathering the difficult economic challenges in our industry. These basic principles have not wavered in our 41-year history. With success in mind, we strive to learn from the past and renew our commitment to provide excellent services, uphold the ethics of our profession, and foster personal and professional development in our employees.

We specialize in protecting life and property through application of fire protection and life safety principals, practices, standards, and codes. We firmly believe that active and passive life safety features must be integrated in the design and construction of any structure. For over three decades, architects, engineers, building owners and developers, state and local building officials, and safety professionals in both the private and government sectors have selected PDI for the critical task of fire protection engineering and code analysis. Our fire protection, life safety, and construction code solutions can be found in manufacturing, retail, business/office, residential, warehousing, refining/chemical, healthcare, historical, and educational occupancies. PDI’s licensed professionals and certified technical staff critically evaluate fire hazards and design problems to offer technically sound, cost-effective solutions.

We are a Texas Registered Engineering Firm (No. F-2816) and are also certified by the South Central Texas Regional Certification Agency (SCTRCA) as a Small Business Enterprise. Our office is located in San Antonio, Texas and the majority of our employees reside within Bexar County.
