Description

The role:

A leading quantitative investment firm is looking for aSoftware Engineer to build practical AI-enabled tools and automation that improve how teams work across the business. The focus is on strong Python engineering, building internal tools, developing scalable workflows, and applying AI to solve real operational problems across functions such as Operations, HR, Technology, and other business teams.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior technology leadership and take ownership across the full development lifecycle, from understanding business problems through to designing, building, deploying, and improving internal solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build internal tools, workflow automation, and AI-enabled applications to improve productivity across the organisation.
2. Develop scalable Python-based systems, pipelines, APIs, and internal platforms.
3. Work closely with business users across Operations, HR, Technology, and other functions to understand workflow challenges.
4. Apply AI engineering techniques to reduce manual processes, improve efficiency, and support better decision-making.
5. Own projects end-to-end, from problem definition and prototyping through to production deployment.
6. Build user-friendly tools that can be adopted by both technical and non-technical users.
7. Collaborate closely with the CTO and wider engineering team in a flat, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

1. Strong Python development experience and a solid software engineering foundation.
2. Experience building production-quality software, internal tools, automation platforms, APIs, or data pipelines.
3. Practical exposure to AI engineering, LLMs, automation, or workflow optimisation.
4. Comfortable translating business problems into technical solutions.
5. Strong problem-solving ability with a builder mindset.
6. Able to work directly with stakeholders across different functions.
7. Open to candidates from a range of technology-driven environments.
