Join a Dynamic Team as Third Assistant Engineer Aboard a Premier Research Vessel.
Job Description:
The Third Assistant Engineer is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and repair of the vessel’s mechanical and electrical systems under the direction of senior engineering staff. Duties include monitoring engine performance, conducting routine maintenance, and assisting in troubleshooting mechanical issues to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the ship. This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols and U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
Dates: June 9th- Sep 9th
Ports: include Balboa (Panama), San Diego, and Newport (Oregon)
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the operation and maintenance of propulsion and auxiliary systems
Monitor engine room equipment and record performance data
Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs
Stand engineering watch as assigned
Follow all safety and environmental procedures
Report to the Second Assistant Engineer and Chief Engineer
Qualifications:
Valid U.S. Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer license (Unlimited or appropriate tonnage)
STCW endorsement
Current medical certificate and TWIC
Prior experience aboard research or similar vessels preferred
Pay: $44.48
